Is it legal in New South Wales? keyboard_arrow_down
Yes, Australian natural medicine has been legal in Australia with a doctor’s prescription since 2016. Authorised doctors and prescribers in Australia are able to prescribe Schedule 4 and Schedule 8 alternative natural medicine products. Not all patients will be eligible. It’s important to speak to a doctor and understand how alternative healthcare may work for you.
There are, of course, laws around driving and travel when it comes to alternative medicine. Some prescribed medicines may affect your ability to drive safely, and it is an offence in NSW to drive under some prescribed medicines. The NSW Government is currently reviewing the laws around driving under prescribed medicines, as roadside testing currently tests for presence, rather than impairment. What will apply to you and your prescription will be discussed with your doctor – for all current road rules, Transport NSW is the best source of information.
